purpose of our pregnancy testing
You probably have already taken an at-home pregnancy test, so why do you need to take another one here?
Providing a limited ultrasound, or any ultrasound, is a medical procedure and must be medically warranted. In order to provide you with a limited ultrasound, we must have on our records a positive pregnancy test first. So although you may have taken home tests, we will always administer a pregnancy test before we can move forward with a limited ultrasound at our clinic.
A dentist wouldn't pull a tooth without first checking if the tooth needed to be pulled. In the same fashion, we need to first have proof that you have a positive pregnancy test result before we can perform an ultrasound.

What to expect at your appointment
Once you arrive for your appointment we will ask you to fill out some paperwork. This paperwork is just so we can get to know you a little better and learn more about what pregnancy information you would like us to provide for you.
After your paperwork is complete a client advocate will give you a specimen cup for your urine sample. A trained staff or volunteer will run your test while you and the client advocate discuss your pregnancy options: abortion, adoption, and parenting.
Once your test is complete, your client advocate will go over your results and discuss discharge instructions. If your test was positive, this will be the time to complete your ultrasound referral. If your test was negative you will be able to schedule a retest within a week or two, depending on your last menstrual cycle. Your client advocate may also discuss any referrals for other resources you may have requested.
We also have a blog post that goes a little more in depth about what to expect from your appointment at the CPC.
